Chilean filmfest honors Iran’s ‘The American Bull’

Iran’s ‘The American Bull’ wins an honor at the 15th Arica Nativa Film Festival in Chile.

The 15th Arica Nativa Rural Film Festival in Chile has honored Iranian short flick ‘The American Bull’.

Directed by Fatemeh Tousi, the 14-minute film received the special jury prize in the short competition of the Chilean event.

‘The American Bull’ narrates the story of a young boy named Saheb who lives in a village near the border between Iran and Iraq.

Saheb owns a bull and is dependent on it for earning a living.

The film has been screened at a number of global events, including the Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in Germany, the Sofia MENAR Film Festival in Bulgaria, and the Sapporo Short Film Festival in Japan.

Tousi’s work won some awards such as best film award at the Dhaka International Youth Film Festival in Bangladesh, Best Narrative Short Award at the Alrington International Film Festival in the US, and best short film award at the Talent Under 35 Award at the Sguardi Altrove international women’s film festival in Italy.

The purpose of the Arica Nativa filmfest is to make children, youth and adults to fall in love with the natural and cultural treasures that remain heroically in the rural and indigenous areas of the planet.

The 2020 edition of the festival was held on November 10-15.
